Here's how we are distinct:

  • At a minimum, review meetings are twice a year with quarterly check-ins

  • Schedule as often as you'd like

  • David's assistant is tenacious, competent, and has excellent follow-through, giving you a team of TWO dedicated to give you knowledgeable and responsive service

 

The typical onboarding process looks like this:​

  • Introduction: A casual meeting to discuss your financial situation and see if we are a good fit

  • Review Goals: A second meeting to discuss your financial needs, priorities, and goals in detail

  • Gather Facts: Some homework of data gathering or possibly connecting accounts to WealthVision

  • Identify Challenges and Opportunities: David takes time to review the data, which may lead to another meeting to ask more questions 

  • Plan Development: David will finalize your plan and will review it with you in one or two subsequent meetings

  • Implement the Plan: there could be transfers or rollovers, payoffs or merges, etc. David and Cristy will both help as much as possible! 

  • Follow-up and Review: At some point (often a month or two) we go into our maintenance rhythm of review meetings and check-ins, with of course times of extra attention (i.e. 401(k) options, retirement, college, loan payoff, etc.)

David Hellinger, Financial Advisor

David began his career as a Financial Advisor at Ameriprise in 2002. David firmly believes that careful, thoughtful and consistent planning is the key to maximizing financial opportunity and avoiding unnecessary mistakes. His mission is to align a client’s core values with their financial lives to help pursue financial goals through a personal relationship based on personalized, knowledgeable advice. David strives to hold to a fiduciary standard and specializes in the complex and comprehensive needs of executives, business professionals, and medical professionals.

David is originally from Winston-Salem, NC, and has lived in the Triangle since 1995. A graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, David resides in Cary and is a leader in a BNI (Business Networking and Referrals) chapter. His major hobby is soccer, including coaching his four children when they were younger, and he is an avid soccer player himself. He also enjoys traveling with his wife, cooking, staying fit, and spending time with loved ones.

Cristy Head, Registered Administrative Associate

Cristy joined David in 2016 and assumes more of the daily-grind tasks and support. Before you feel sorry for her, rest assured this is her sweet spot. Her tasks started off very basic at first (like scheduling and account opening) but have grown into nearly every aspect now. In 2017 she completed her Accounting degree and in 2021 she passed the Series 7 and Series 66 exams. She has successfully operated and ran her own business, which includes bookkeeping, administrative work, and technical assistance, since 2007. Lately, though, she has given more time and focus to Hellinger Financial than her other business, as she sees her future there.

 

After having moved around a lot in her development years, the Triangle has been Cristy's home since 2006, where she resides with her husband (a videographer) and three school-aged children. She enjoys remodeling the inside and outside of her home, trying to keep up with her growing children, and Marvel/DC movies.

Audrey Evans,  Administrative Assistant

Audrey joined Hellinger Financial in 2024 as an Administrative Associate, driven by her passion for helping others and making a positive impact. Originally from Edenton, NC, she has always been committed to service, whether through supporting neighbors or participating in mission trips.

 

With a background in Early Childhood Education, Audrey is dedicated to supporting both youth and families and has a strong passion for helping others reach their goals. Before joining Hellinger Financial, she was the Director of Operations for a local babysitting platform and worked as a long-term, part-time nanny in the RDU area. These roles helped her develop strong skills in organization, communication, and adaptability—skills she’s excited to bring to her new role.

 

Outside of work, Audrey enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and exploring new cultures, always eager to embrace new experiences and challenges.
